To make a long story short, my otherwise conservative officemate,
Mark, fooled me into thinking that I needed to translate an 85 page
document from French into English within a very unrealistic timeframe.
So here's what Mark's office looked like at around 5pm today (11/25/2009):

And here are the supplies that I got from Home Depot:

It took awhile to find it but this was the most gaudy
color I could find (nice name though):

To do a job right, ya gotta do lots of prep work.
So I took down the white board there...

Filled in the holes with some mysteriously
improvised spackling...

Here the wall is taped and ready to go.

First coat of the background color

... and the detail work

And here's where the fun begins.
First, find a projector and position it at the back of the office:

Find an image of Mark's hero and project it on the wall:

With the lights off, it was easier to see:

And then put that artisan skill to work!

This is actually the first time I've ever done this kind of thing.
It was much easier than I thought it'd be.

Of course, a home made greeting card is always appreciated

And dangle it in front of the finished product.
Hopefully it'll be the first thing that Mark notices when he
walks through the door

So, once again, here's the 'before' shot:

And a close up of my 'masterpiece' completed at 7:00pm...

I'll call it the "Obamaffice Mural"... catchy, eh?

So, Mark, if you've read this far, let me close
with this special link just for you.

UPDATE: 12/10/2009: Looks like that didn't go over so well, so I had to go
back in and fix this...
So, after Mark's flagrant vandalism here's the aftermath
